Position Overview

This strategic technical role bridges the gap between our sales team and our Data Technologies Experts. As a Pre-Sales Solutions Architect, you will combine deep technical expertise in enterprise data platforms and cloud architecture with excellent client-facing skills. Your main focus will be on helping potential clients understand, envision, and adopt the right solutions and architectures to fit their unique business needs, acting as their trusted technical advisor throughout the sales process.

Crucially, you will act as the translator between technical data architecture and executive strategy — taking complex platform and solution concepts and turning them into compelling commercial value propositions for a C-suite audience. This is a client-facing role that requires periodic travel and on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Client & Opportunity Engagement: Partner with clients and internal account teams to uncover business priorities, data challenges, and strategic goals. Qualify opportunities, build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders, and translate client needs into clearly defined use cases that demonstrate tangible business value.

• Solution Architecture & Design: Design and present fit-for-purpose data architectures tailored to each client context — spanning Data Warehouses, Lakehouses, Data Pipelines, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern ISVs (Snowflake, Databricks). Develop reference architectures, solution blueprints and methodologies that give clients a clear and credible path forward.

• Sales Support & Deal Execution: Own the technical workstream of the sales cycle from initial discovery through to close. Prepare and deliver compelling technical and commercial proposals, respond to RFPs, lead solution demos, and serve as the primary technical point of reference throughout — ensuring alignment between client needs and SDG’s capabilities.

• Portfolio & Business Development: Develop a strong command of SDG’s full Data Technologies portfolio — Big Data, Cloud, Modern Data Warehouse, Analytics, and AI — and apply that knowledge to identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts and support new logo pursuits. Contribute to the refinement of SDG’s data value proposition and go-to-market positioning.

• Technology & Innovation: Stay current with the evolving data and AI technology landscape — including emerging platforms, architectural patterns, and industry use cases. Contribute to SDG’s internal knowledge base, accelerators, and reusable assets that strengthen the practice’s competitive edge.

• Thought Leadership & Representation: Represent SDG at industry events, partner conferences, and client briefings. Build and maintain long-term relationships that reinforce SDG’s reputation as a trusted data and analytics partner.

Qualifications

• Professional Experience: 6+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or technical consulting, with a background that demonstrates hands-on delivery across data platforms and cloud environments.

• Pre-Sales Expertise: Experience in technical pre-sales, solution architecture, or client-facing advisory roles is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates coming from delivery or engineering backgrounds with strong communication skills and a commercial mindset are welcome.

• Technical Foundation: Solid hands-on background in data architecture or engineering — including Data Warehouses, Lakehouses, Data Pipelines, and Big Data platforms. Strong familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern ISVs such as Snowflake or Databricks.

• Client-Facing & Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to engage confidently with technical and business stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives. Comfortable leading solution presentations, running demos, and articulating complex technical concepts as clear business value.

• Business Development Mindset: Ability to identify and qualify new opportunities, navigate competitive sales processes, respond to RFPs, and support deal closure. Comfortable working alongside sales teams to move opportunities forward.

• Education: Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Telecommunications), Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with AI/ML & GenAI: Working knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, LLMs, and Generative AI applications within enterprise data solutions. You don’t need to build models — but being able to discuss them credibly with clients and position AI capabilities within the data architecture is a meaningful differentiator.

• Reference Architecture Design: Experience creating solution blueprints, architectural frameworks, or reusable technology accelerators that can be adapted across client engagements.

• Certifications: Cloud or data platform certifications (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks) are a strong plus.

• Global Collaboration: Experience working effectively across distributed teams and multiple geographies. Comfort navigating a global consulting environment where ideas and solutions are developed across borders.
